Fire signs

TBT offers a comprehensive range of signs - from evacuation signs to tactile signs. We also help you with custom-made signs for different purposes. Our fire signs are approved according to AFS 2008: 13 and ISO 7010.

This is how fire signs are used

Signs mark, inform and show the way to escape routes and fire extinguishers.

Fire signs are a preventive measure that by law must be in place and be adapted to the premises’ operations and conditions. That they are strategically located is a prerequisite for the purpose to be fulfilled.

The law says that in premises where you can not expect visitors to find (in principle all public premises), are difficult to find in or lack entry of daylight, there must be effective emergency lighting that shows the way out. Even when the power has gone out. This also applies to all buildings that have more than eight storeys.

It is never possible to get an equally effective light from an illuminated sign, compared to what you get out of a luminaire. What we at TBT recommend is that you use strategically placed reference and LED light fixtures that are permanently connected to the mains, and which also have a built-in battery that automatically takes over in the event of a power failure.

Large selection of signs

Fire signs are used to show the location of, for example, fire protection equipment, collection points or fire doors. Through us you can order all the common signs, for example:

  • Evacuation signs – Are usually green with white pictograms depicting a human and arrows pointing out the direction of the escape route.
  • Fire signs – No matter what type of fire extinguisher you have, it should be marked with a red sign with white symbols. With additions, you can clarify what kind of extinguisher you have.

Does your business need custom signs? We are happy to help you. The design of the signs is regulated in accordance with the Swedish Work Environment Authority’s regulations, AFS 2008: 13 “Signs and Signals”.

We can also help you with other types of signs, including mandatory signs, warning signs and well-being signs. Many people have some degree of visual impairment, and in order to orient themselves, they need properly adapted support. For this purpose, there are tactile signs, which are embossed in Braille or raised symbols. The fact that the sign has clearly contrasting colors is also an important factor for accessibility.
